Motorcycle rider killed in Dallas crash; two people charged
On July 19, 2024 at about 8:45 PM, Dallas Fire Rescue and Police responded to an accident call at Southwell Road and Harry Hines Boulevard. The preliminary investigation determined a motorcycle occupied by two individuals was traveling northbound on Harry Hines Boulevard. A 20-year-old man was driving a truck southbound on Harry Hines Boulevard when he turned left on Southwell Road and crashed into the motorcycle.
Mesquite Police arrest Christion James in connection with July 9 murder
On July 9, at approximately 11:38 p.m., the Mesquite Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 3400 block of N. Town East Blvd. Officers arrived on scene and located an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his chest. An acquaintance of the victim was conducting CPR as officers arrived. Officers assisted in CPR and attempted to provide other life sustaining treatment to the victim until Mesquite Fire arrived on scene. The victim was transported to the hospital where he later died. The deceased was identified as Kavontae Slate of Mesquite, Texas.

On July 4, 2024, at about 2:50 am, Dallas Police responded to a hit and run pedestrian crash in the area of 700 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The preliminary investigation determined 35-year-old Lydie Zebaze Metsindon was walking on the Cedar Crest bridge when an unknown suspect vehicle driving northbound on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard hit Zebaze Metsindon. The driver left the scene without stopping to help the woman. Zebaze Metsindon died at the scene.
Deadly shooting in Old East Dallas leaves man, 23, dead and neighbors fed up with recent violence
Neighbors at Roseland Townhomes in Old East Dallas said they were startled by a barrage of gunfire Wednesday night that killed a man and left bullet holes in cars and homes. Dallas Police said it responded to a shooting call in the 3500 block of Munger Ave. around 10:48 p.m. on Wednesday. When they arrived, they found a man outside the townhomes with a gunshot wound.
