Jerry: Yankees have chance for AL East breathing room, and to quiet some narratives against O's

The Yankees have a huge June series with the Orioles in the Bronx starting Tuesday night, and Jerry says it is not only a chance for the Bombers to get some valuable breathing room in the AL East, but a chance to silence some narratives surrounding the team, even as they enter the three-game set with 50 wins.

“You have a good chance here to put some distance between yourselves,” Jerry said, noting that a series loss would bring up some familiar concerns of recent years. “Then the Yankee hater will point to ‘same old Yankees.’

“I thought the addition of Juan Soto took that away…You didn’t get the Soto effect in that series that I think he will have in the postseason. You will have that tonight.”

If the Yankee bats can come alive in the Bronx and win this series, Jerry says it will accomplish more than putting some space between themselves and the O’s in the division.

“They’ve got a great opportunity to go out and take care of business,” Jerry said. “And if you’re a Yankee fan, I don’t think you’ll have to worry that they’re not gonna be able to hit in the postseason when they match up against good pitching.”
