Super Bowl Champion Goes Off On Lamar Jackson In Scathing Rant

The Baltimore Ravens consistently have one of the top offenses in the NFL on a yearly basis, but it’s almost always thanks to the team’s dominant run game.

Just five times since 2010 has the team had a pass-catcher with 1,000 or more yards, and former Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth believes the blame falls on the shoulders of quarterback Lamar Jackson.

During a recent episode of his “Stinkin Truth” podcast, Schlereth went off on the two-time MVP for not helping his group of wideouts develop into stars.

“I do not want to hear it from all of you out there that are telling me Lamar  Jackson — ‘Well, they don’t get him many weapons,’” Schlereth said. “How many first-round wide receivers to they have to draft? ‘Well, they’re not drafting the right ones.’ Well, you’re not developing them. ‘Well, how do you develop them?’ Well, your quarterback has a long way to go in developing wide receivers. So I don’t want to hear that bulls--- from you anymore.

“…They drafted first-round talent, they drafted tight ends in the first round, they've drafted three different wide receivers since 2018 in the first round. I mean, Aaron Rodgers went what, 16-17 years with the Green Bay Packers, they never drafted a guy in the first round…so don't tell about it.”

To Schlereth’s point, the Ravens have drafted three first-round receivers during Jackson’s tenure — Marquise Brown, Rashod Bateman and Zay Flowers.

Brown was the only one who had even moderate success. In three seasons in Baltimore, he had just one 1,000-yard season and he topped 58 receptions just once. Bateman’s best season was his rookie year (46 receptions, 515 yards) and Flowers had a solid rookie season (77 receptions, 858 yards), but none of the three made a Pro Bowl.
