Reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson did not practice on Sunday after being sent home due to an illness, the team reported on social media platform X earlier this afternoon.

Jackson, 27, began experiencing symptoms on Saturday and was ultimately sent home by doctors, head coach John Harbaugh says.

"Really no details. He just started getting sick yesterday, midday," Harbaugh said, via ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "Started getting sick, not good... So he was sent home by doctors."

Harbaugh also said that Jackson will return "when he’s ready."

The Ravens opened up training camp with their first full-team practice this Sunday morning.

Jackson led Baltimore to an AFC-best 13-4 record in 2023 en route to winning his second MVP.

The two-time All-Pro quarterback completed a career-best 67.2 percent of his pass attempts last season and set a new career-high in passing yards (3,687).

As the No. 1 seed in the conference, the Ravens were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs 17-10 in the AFC Championship Game.

We'll keep an eye out for further updates on Jackson's status.

The Ravens will return to practice on Monday.
