The Baltimore Ravens kicked off training camp on Sunday, but one notable name was missing from action.

The Ravens announced that quarterback Lamar Jackson was sent home from practice early with an illness. And now one NFL Insider provided some additional information on the situation.

CBS Sports' Josina Anderson reports that Jackson's illness was described to her as "pretty bad."

"We'll see how long it extends after preventing the #Ravens quarterback from participating in the team's first training camp practice Sunday," Anderson wrote.

The timeline for Jackson's recovery is unknown at this moment, so we'll have to wait and see when he returns to training camp.

    More on Lamar Jackson

    ESPN Ranks him at...

Every year before training camp begins, ESPN surveys executives, scouts, and coaches to find the top 10 players at each position across the NFL. And as expected, Lamar Jackson made his way onto the top 10 quarterbacks.

    But what number exactly?

    The answer: No. 4.

"I saw a quarterback who is consistently a high performer who elevates his team at every chance," a high-ranking NFL official told ESPN.

However, there is one area that lowers him on the list.

"One of the more overrated players in the NFL," a veteran NFL executive added when speaking with ESPN. "Immense talent but he makes a lot of mistakes. He's underdeveloped at winning at the line of scrimmage, tends to lock on to targets, more of a thrower than precision passer, forces throws into traffic."

Jackson was ranked as high as No. 1, but was also as low as No. 6. Last year, he came in at No. 3.

On his "4th and 1 Show" on YouTube, Cam Newton was asked if he sees himself as the greatest dual-threat quarterback to ever play the game.

"No, Lamar Jackson," Newton said. " Lamar's style is different than mine. He got big play any play. He got speed that I never had and he's just electric. I played the game more powerful. I can run, but I might probably get caught. Vick, Lamar, they ain't getting caught."

Even though Cam Newton had a shiny career with an extremely high peak in 2015, Lamar Jackson in fact has shown special abilities. Since being drafted in the first round in 2018, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback has won two MVPs .
