Kyle Hamilton says Marlon Humphrey dropped his 'gut' and 'chunkiness'

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey is really under the microscope this summer after having suffered a big drop in form last season.

Humphrey was a Pro Bowler in 2022, when he saw action in all 17 regular season games, but injuries limited him to just 10 last year. The drop in activity rate led to a rise in his weight, but Humphrey has since dropped those extra pounds.

His position group mate, Kyle Hamilton, was asked on Tuesday if he noticed Humphrey’s weight loss.

“I actually did notice it, a little bit,” the stellar safety said.

“He was getting a little gut last year. He wasn’t playing a lot.

“He just had a little chunkiness, but he dropped it. … Now he’s looking good out there. He’s got the abs back. He’s running and covering very well.”

Hamilton then went on to say just how much Humphrey has meant to this team, over the course of his career.

“I don’t think the Ravens are what the Ravens are right now without Marlon the past eight years,” he added.

“Losing a guy like that, in and out last year, it can be tough on a team. For him, it didn’t affect him at all in terms of his support for us.

“He was always there whether he was on the field or not, trying as much as he can to help.”

Humphrey met the media as well on Tuesday, and although he didn’t get into specific numbers, regarding his weight or number of pounds lost, he did say that he has intentionally shed the extra lbs.

“I slimmed down a little bit,” Humphrey told reporters at training camp.

“It was kind of by design, I kind of looked at the past, looked at some of my better seasons when I was a little bit lighter.

“I decided to get down to a little bit lower of a weight and I’ve been moving and feeling pretty well.”

The fact that he’s feeling well is what matters the most. If Humphrey feels very comfortable at his current weight, then it means he’s likely back to feeling fully healthy again.

And if that is the case, then the chances are good he’ll soon return to his best level of effectiveness and production again.
