Lamar Jackson only makes it one hour in first Ravens training camp practice

Lamar Jackson lasted just an hour into his first Ravens training camp practice before being sent off as he battles an illness.

The league’s reigning MVP was not working out with the team Monday or Tuesday and made his first appearance Wednesday, but “looked weary” walking off the field after an hour, according to ESPN .

The 27-year-old wasn’t feeling well while splitting snaps with backup quarterback Josh Johnson, per the report.

Jackson completed one pass and threw one interception on an overthrown ball to veteran cornerback Marlon Humphrey.

Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken told reporters that he doesn’t feel like Jackson’s absence will make the offense fall behind.

“We had all offseason, and Lamar was part of that,” Monken said. “It’s great having him back today, but I don’t feel behind. We didn’t stop. We are still going through the install.”

“We are going to work him back in, for sure,” he continued. “I know I’m being kind of a smartass. You’ll have to ask him how he feels. But he was great in meetings. When we were on the field at the start [of practice], he said he was feeling good.”

Baltimore begins its preseason on Aug. 9 when it hosts the Eagles, but Jackson is unlikely to step foot on the field until the final preseason tune-up game.

The Ravens will play in the opening regular-season game against the defending-champion Chiefs on Sept. 5, and are slight road underdogs in the AFC championship game rematch.

Baltimore secured the conference’s No. 1 seed last season with Jackson leading the way.
