Authorities responded to a barricade incident on Saturday in North Baltimore that ended in a suicide, according to a Baltimore Police spokesperson.

BPD officers and a SWAT unit responded to a call at 1:13 p.m. about an unidentified person shooting a firearm out of an apartment window in the 300 block of Homeland Southway, according to police spokesperson Freddie Talbert.

The SWAT unit entered the building at 6:21 p.m. and found a deceased man who “appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Talbert said via email. No one else was injured.

Talbert did not say whether the man police found and the one who was reportedly shooting out of the apartment window were the same person.

The deceased man’s name and other identifying details will not be released “out of respect for his family,” Talbert said.
