CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — One of Charleston’s signature events – the Sternwheel Regatta – is set to take over downtown once again this week. The five-day festival runs from July 3-7 and will feature activities and events at locations across the city, including Haddad Riverfront Park, City Center at Slack Plaza and Magic Island.

Hosted by former Budget Tapes and Records employee and local music enthusiast John Nelson and musician and journalist Terry Lowry, the event featured an open discussion of the famed concerts held at the Charleston Civic Center during the 1960s and 1970s.
Health center to develop programs to fight WV food insecurity
A West Virginia community health center is participating in a program addressing food scarcity. The National Association of Community Health Centers' 2024 Innovation Incubator creates ways to expand access to healthy foods. Cabin Creek Health Systems, based in Charleston, will have funding and guidance from experts to help it design and test community-based solutions.
Justice calls for additional income tax cuts while celebrating revenue numbers
CHARLESTON — While making his last tax revenue report to a packed room of state employees, lawmakers, and supporters, Gov. Jim Justice said Monday he will call lawmakers into an August or September special session to make further cuts to the personal income tax and pass a tax rebate for childcare.
