It’s a shame Isaiah Likely is a backup tight end because if he were a starter, he would be a locked and loaded top 8-10 tight end in fantasy. Unfortunately, he is a backup and has to make the most of his opportunities. Last season, he did just that once starter Mark Andrews went down as Likely had 21 catches for 322 yards and 5 touchdowns in the 6 he was the team starter.
Those are fantastic numbers for any tight end, especially a backup. He likely is an athletic field stretcher at the tight end who should have a consistent role in the Ravens offense. Outside of Andrews and Zay Flowers, the Ravens don’t have a proven consistent option, and Likely could very quickly be the 3rd option in the passing game.
Because Likely is slotted as the backup, he probably shouldn’t be drafted, as it will be too hard to figure out when to start him unless Andrews goes down. Still, Andrew’s owners could certainly take Likely with their last pick to secure a top tight-end option if Andrews is healthy or hurt. He is a perfect best ball target as he will have big weeks that will help best ball lineups, but he won’t hurt them on bad weeks because he won’t count towards the point totals in best ball.
Our consensus projections for Likely in the 2024 season are 40 receptions, 517 yards, and 4 touchdowns.
