Man out on bond and under indictment arrested on new drug charges
A man out on bond and recently indicted on multiple charges stemming from a March 2023 drug and weapons arrest, was arrested again on new and additional drug charges. The Cocke County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) served arrest warrants on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, on Kenneth Thomas Harwell, 44, at his residence on Shropshire Road in the Edwina community of Newport. The arrest warrants stemmed from his 2023 arrest after testing from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) of suspected narcotics that were seized at his home came back positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Catalytic converter thieves hit Stinnett Automotive
Newport Police responded Thursday, July 25 to Stinnett Automotive on West Broadway regarding several vehicles on the auto dealership’s lot that had catalytic converters removed. According to an incident report, a total of six vehicles were discovered by employees to have been vandalized. Three of the vehicles were inventory for sale on the lot and three were at the dealership for repairs or awaiting pickup.
