Mother and child escape as car bursts into flames following Aroostook deer crash

A car caught fire after hitting a deer Saturday on Interstate 95 in Aroostook County, state police said. Troopers say a Subaru traveling south in Dyer Brook hit a deer and then pulled to the side of the roadway. The vehicle caught fire when an electrical component sparked due to the impact from the crash, police said. Both the woman and her child got out of the car before it ignited. The vehicle became engulfed in flames in a matter of minutes and was eventually put out by fire officials. The vehicle was destroyed and burned beyond repair.
