Watch this young eagle try to sneak a meal

At some point, all baby birds and animals grow to a point where they should try to get some of their own food and not rely on mom and dad so much.

That could be the case in this video contributed by Roger Stevens Jr., where this immature bald eagle is trying to steal some of the older bird’s meal. Or maybe the mature bald eagle has been feeding mouths all day and is just hungry.

Whatever the reason, the younger bird is certainly putting up a fuss over the issue. And since its mobility skills are less than expert, it seems like this could be a new fledgling just out of the nest.

We don’t see what happens after this clip, but you have to wonder if the parent finally gave in and rewarded the youngster for trying so hard.

Young eagles are considered fully grown when they fledge at around 3 months old, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Bald eagles don’t get their white feathers until they are about 3 years old.

They eat fish primarily, but will supplement with other prey and carrion in winter.
