BANGOR — Bangor Band Performs at the Chapin Park Block Party in Bangor on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m.; Instrument Petting Zoo at 5:30 p.m

On Aug. 6 the Bangor Band will continue its 165th concert season and longtime tradition of presenting at the annual Chapin Park Block Party. As always, the block party celebrates the neighborhoods of Bangor, treating residents to games, food, ice cream, and a Bangor Band concert. This year, though, the Bangor Band is going all out for the kids!

This concert is the latest in the summer series of family friendly, free programs in and around Bangor. In addition to performing a kid-centric program that introduces young people to the instruments and sound of a concert band at 6:30 p.m., at 5:30 p.m. the band collaborates with the David French Music Company to present an Instrument Petting Zoo. Kids of all ages can see instruments up close, touch and even try some of them!

Conducted by Music Director Philip Edelman, Associate Conductor Scott Burditt, and conductor Emeritus Curvin “Chip” Farnham,  the band will perform a mix of music to interest and excite children, as well as adults. Bring a chair, a picnic and especially the kids and enjoy a wonderful summer evening at Chapin Park.

In the event of rain, the event will take place the following evening, Aug. 7 at the same time and place.
