A Buffalo Grove home became the site of a tragic incident this Monday when firefighters and police responded to a structure fire on the 600 block of Woodhollow Lane. The conflagration, reported near 10 a.m., quickly escalated from the garage to the main structure before it could be contained. According to the Chicago Police Department, Wangyal was last seen on July 15, 2024, at approximately 6 p.m. at the Levy Center. A description released by police notes Wangyal as an Asian female with brown eyes, grey hair, medium complexion, standing about 5'01" and weighing around 160 pounds. Thankfully, Streetsblog has seen no reports of bicycle fatalities within the city of Chicago this year. Let's hope that this good luck streak continues. However, sadly the northern suburbs have not been so fortunate. In July alone, there have been at least three reports of drivers seriously injuring or killing people on bikes in Morton Grove, Skokie, and Lincolnwood. Two of the crashes happened yesterday, Wednesday, July 24. All three collisions took place on roads controlled by the Illinois Department of Transportation, which has historically prioritized fast traffic flow over street designs that help prevent severe crash injuries and deaths.
