BAR HARBOR –– On Wednesday June 26, Officer Troy Stanwood of the Bar Harbor Police Department responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in which the vehicle had left the scene. The crash had occurred at the intersection of Firefly Lane and Kennebec Place — which is in front of the Bar Harbor Police Department. The suspected offending driver and vehicle were able to be located.

According to the weekly police report, Brandon Bermudez, 26, of Norwalk, Connecticut, was driving a 2017 Subaru Impreza south on Kennebec Place when Bermudez’s vehicle allegedly crossed into the oncoming travel lane and struck a high-rise curb adjacent to the Village Green. The vehicle traveled approximately 30 feet along the curb and reentered Kennebec Place, at which point Bermudez allegedly fled the scene.

When the vehicle was located at a nearby residence, and after investigation, Bermudez was arrested by Stanwood for alleged operating under the influence, alleged reckless conduct, and alleged failure to report an accident to law enforcement. Bermudez was transported to the Hancock County Jail.

Bermudez was not injured, but the vehicle suffered severe front driver’s side corner damage and substantial damage to the undercarriage.
