AKRON, Ohio – More than 1,400 people will take part in the National Interstate 8k race in Downtown Akron on Saturday – the first of three races in the Akron Marathon Race Series. Among them will be first-time participant Kathryn Eastgate of Akron. Eastgate, 40, has undergone ankle reconstruction surgery and lost 180 pounds in order to participate in the race, she said.

It’s safe to say that the 2023-24 fall (football), winter (basketball), and now spring (baseball) have been very productive for B.H.S. junior (now senior) Jaivon “Jay Jay” Hudson. He was voted MVP of the Lake Erie League in football, 1st Team in basketball, and has now also garnered 1st Team honors in baseball as well. Jaivon was an outstanding performer for Coach Incarnato’s Bearcats this season as he batted .522 in 26 plate appearances, maintained a fielding percentage of .857 w/ only one error from his shortstop position, and also managed to strike out 6 batters in a total of 4 innings pitched.
