BARBERTON , Ohio (WJW) — A 44-year-old Barberton man is in custody following a SWAT standoff on Sunday that lasted about two hours.

Shannon D. Karr, 44, of Barberton, is accused of shooting a gun into his neighbor’s home near the intersection of 2nd Street Southwest and Palmer Avenue on Sunday, July 14, according to a news release.

Officers who responded just after 6:30 p.m. “immediately noticed” the bullet hole in the neighbor’s home.

Karr then came out onto the porch, but refused to come down and speak with officers, and instead went back inside, according to the report. Officers saw him through an open window and he continued ignoring their orders to come out.

Barberton SWAT officers then responded. A negotiator spent two hours trying to contact Karr, but didn’t get a response.
