    Motorbike crashes in Cabell County during pursuit, one injured

    CABELL COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A police pursuit initiated in Putnam County ended with a motorbike crash on I-64 near Barboursville Monday night.

    According to Cabell County 911, a Hurricane police officer initiated a traffic stop on a motorbike for excessive speeding on I-64 around 8:19 p.m. The driver fled and police began a pursuit, ending with the driver crashing at mile marker 18 on I-64 Westbound near Barboursville minutes later.

    The motorbike reportedly slide into an 18-wheeler, causing minor damage to it. The motorbike driver was then transported for unknown injuries. It has not been said whether they will be arrested after treatment.

    Lanes were temporarily closed but have since reopened.

    Members of the Barboursville Police and Volunteer Fire Departments were also on scene alongside the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office and EMS.
