The Blue Hills Genealogical Society meets Thursday, Aug. 1, at 3 p.m. at the Barron Senior Center, 12 N. Third St., when Ken Noesen will show slides of "Old Barron." The meeting is free and open to the public.

The society promotes family history and preserves genealogy from the Barron County area. They maintain a Resource Library at 410 E. LaSalle Ave., Suite C., Barron where interested people may do research by contacting Rosella Amundson for an appointment at 715-537-5760. Those with donations of family histories or other genealogy materials should contact Gloria Dobberfuhl at 715-637-5579.

The group also sponsors a Pioneer and Century Certificate program for those who had ancestors that lived in Barron County by 1871 or 100 years ago. Contact Linda Adams at 715-205-2860 for more information on how to apply.
