New Retail Development Possible Near Silver Lake Village
A new retail development could be coming to Bartlesville next to Silver Lake Village. The Bartlesville Development Authority held a special meeting Monday evening to approve a purchase contract for just over 15 acres of land directly to the east of the existing shopping center, at the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Lake Village Trail. The deal allows for $95,000 in non-refundable earnest money to the property holders to hold the land for a 12-month period to allow for due diligence on behalf of the BDA and the developer.
Vashus Begins at Bruin Wrestling Coach
We are in the depths of the offseason, with the OSSAA dead week here. There is no activity for any high school athlete across the state of Oklahoma. At Bartlesville High, Bruin wrestlers are starting to meet their new head coach. Bryan Vahsus was hired in the spring out of Colorado to replace longtime former skipper Josh Pulsifer. Pulsifer resigned in the middle of the 2023-24 season.
Council Approves Road Name Change in Honor of Billie Roane
The Bartlesville City Council approved Monday changing the name of a portion of a road in honor of a city council member who died unexpectedly earlier this year. The east-west segment of Oak Park Road as it runs through the Oak Wood Addition will be named Roane Road in honor of former Ward 4 Councilor Billie Roane. She passed away suddenly in April after a brief illness and called the Oak Park neighborhood home.

The Washington County Commissioners approved several lease agreements Monday on road equipment and sheriff's office patrol vehicles. Commissioner Mike Dunlap says leasing the equipment rather than purchasing them outright is a matter of new technology that is difficult to repair in-house; as well as a matter of the purchase price being too expensive for the county.
