First day in the books for 2024 WVGA Senior Amateur Championship at Stonewall Resort
Bryan Myers of Wheeling and Ian Patrick of Huntington tied for the lead in stroke play on the opening day of play in the Championship Division at the 2024 West Virginia Senior Amateur Championship, conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), at Stonewall Resort. Myers was aided by six birdies, while Patrick scored four birdies in the opening round. Neil Christiansen of Parkersburg, aided by five birdies on the day, sit at the top of the Senior Division at three under par 69.

Blair sets sights on 2024 Paralympic Trials and beyond
MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. — Cooper Blair is a 20-year-old Glen Dale native and Wheeling Central alum that is setting out to participate in the 2024 Paralympic Trials. Blair started running at age 9 when he received his first pair of running blades. He got into the sport as a way to meet other amputees but fell in love with it and has been running ever since.
Wheeling Men’s Basketball Earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, Three Named to NABC Honors Court
Wheeling, W. Va. - As the summer months roll on, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced their annual academic awards. The Wheeling University Men's Basketball team earned the Team Academic Excellence Award while three players earned a spot on the 2023-2024 NABC Honors Court. It is the third year in a row that the Cardinals had players finish on the Honors Court and the first time since Head Coach Chris Richardson has been with the program that they have earned the Team Award.
