Skip Bayless says Curry should've been Olympic MVP over LeBron: "We would not have won either without him"

Instead of celebrating Team USA's win over France in the Olympic gold medal game and enjoying the greatness of the old guards who led the team to victory, Fox Sports' Skip Bayless found time to criticize LeBron James for being named the Olympic Tournament MVP.

According to Bayless, it was ridiculous to give King James the best player of the tournament award because, without Stephen Curry , the Americans wouldn't have made it out of the semifinals against Serbia. He says Curry's incredible three-point shooting carried Team USA to the gold medal.

Steph heated up at the right time

After struggling to find his shot in the tournament's first four games, Curry came alive in the medal-round games. First, the Davidson product erupted for 36 points during their 95-91 semifinal win over Serbia. Then, in the gold medal game, the Golden State Warriors superstar scored 24 points to lead Team USA to victory over the host team, France.

In those two games, Curry was absolutely fire from three-point distance. Steph knocked down 9-14 three-pointers against Serbia and was an even more accurate 8-12 from deep against France. The two-time NBA MVP made four consecutive triples in the final three minutes of Saturday's finals, killing the Frenchmen's fourth-quarter rally.

LBJ was delivering from the jump

However, while Curry starred against Serbia and France, LeBron was the most consistent player on Team USA. King James masterfully orchestrated the Americans' offense throughout the entire tournament, averaging 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

James led Team USA in rebounds and assists during the tournament and was the team's leading scorer until Curry's fourth-quarter flurry against France. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar also led the Americans in efficiency with a cumulative of 141.

I don't think there's any debate as to LeBron winning the MVP. The only other player who deserved the Olympic Tournament MVP award was Nikola Jokic, but Team USA eliminated Serbia. If there were, however, a Final Four MVP award, then that would be Curry, without a shadow of a doubt.
