Kevin Durant is hands down one of the best scorers of all time. Durant established a loving fanbase during his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, KD became the villain of the league after he decided to join the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

At the time, the Warriors were coming off a 73-9 season and were the best team in the NBA. On the other hand, Durant and the Thunder had another disappointing end to the playoffs as they were eliminated in the Western Conference Finals.

It led to Durantula joining forces with Stephen Curry , Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green in order to form a lopsided super team. Despite all the criticisms, the decision helped the Slim Reaper win two NBA Championships in 2017 and 2018.

Wanda Durant wanted KD to stay with the Warriors

After reaching three consecutive NBA Finals with the Warriors, Durant moved on to the next chapter of his career by joining the Brooklyn Nets. But what if the 4x Olympic gold medalist never left the Dubs?

Well, Durant’s mother, Wanda, believes her son could have won 20 NBA titles by the end of his career.

"I didn't really want him to go... We would've had 20 rings by now," Wanda said on the Raising Fame show . "And it was about 10 years ago. That's how cold they were."

Now, that’s a huge claim by Wanda. Winning 20 rings may have been an exaggeration, but Durant would certainly have enjoyed more success in his NBA career with the Dubs. After all, the Slim Reaper has failed to even reach the NBA Finals since leaving the Warriors.

KD was dominant on the Warriors

In three years with the Warriors, Durant averaged 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. Moreover, he was still free of major injury troubles as he played more than 60 games each season.

Additionally, Kevin made three consecutive NBA Finals appearances with the team from 2017 to 2019. If it weren’t for a torn Achilles, KD likely would have helped the Dubs secure a historic three-peat.

Since then, the Warriors have captured another NBA title in 2022. As for Durant, he’s now a key member of the Phoenix Suns, which boasts a powerhouse lineup featuring Durantula, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. With this formidable trio, the Suns are poised to make a strong push for the championship and bounce back from last season's disappointing finish, aiming to add another title to Durant’s illustrious career.
