Throughout his illustrious 15-year NBA career, Michael Jordan accomplished impressive feats on the court. He did everything with extraordinary ease as if it was an ordinary move, be it knocking clutch game-winning shots, single-handedly leading his team to victory, or captivating the audience with high-flying athleticism. However, there was one particular play that he executed on the court that whenever he recalled it, the five-time MVP had 'chills.'
Michael Jordan on the dunk that impressed him the most
Before winning consecutive Slam Dunk Contests in 1987 and '88, Jordan had already established himself as one of the most vibrant dunkers in the league. Put simply, he was one of the most fearless dunkers who attacked the rim without any second thought. So, during the early stages of the '86-87 season, MJ discussed in detail his dunking prowess.
"Sometimes I think about how high I get up," Jordan said . "I was really up against New York in our first game. On my last dunk, I think I was close to eye level with the rim. Sometimes you just hit your wrists on the rim, but this time it was my elbows and everything. I almost over-dunked the whole rim."
Continuing on the subject of dunking during the same Sports Illustrated interview, Mike reminisced about one of his most renowned dunks. This particular feat occurred during his rookie season, specifically in the second game of his professional career against the Milwaukee Bucks. The six-time Finals MVP emphasized how the visual of that dunk still excited him.
"I wish I could show you a film of a dunk I had in Milwaukee," Jordan added. "It's in slow motion, and it looks like I'm taking off - like somebody put wings on me. I get chills when I see it."
Given the many things he could do on the court, Michael Jeffrey Jordan impressed himself at least once.
MJ's favorite dunk was different
While that dunk from his rookie season gave him chills, Mike's favorite was when he caught Knicks legend Patrick Ewing off guard . The 6'6" shooting guard got the ball on the left side of the court, intending to drive to the basket. John Starks and Charles Oakley quickly double-teamed him, but Jordan faked them out with a hesitation dribble. The result was a huge dunk on an unprepared Patrick Ewing.
With all the dunks Mike pulled off in his career, he definitely had a few that stood out as special, and this was also one of them.
