Athleticism and records are the words that best resonate with the late great Wilt Chamberlain . With his incredible size and strength, "The Big Dipper" was destined to leave his mark on the sport. In fact, Wilt already did that as early as his high school years.

It was at Overbrook High School in Philadelphia where Chamberlain first made his presence felt on the basketball scene. He lit up the stat sheets right from the get-go, and in one of his many remarkable games, Wilt etched his name in history by scoring a whopping 90 points in less than 30 minutes.

"It's impossible to describe," former Overbrook High School coach Cecil Mosenson remembered . "There was no way of stopping him. In our gym, he could run the length of the gym in four or five steps and dunk the ball. He scored 90 points in 28 minutes in a high school game and he had 15 points in one minute."

The potential GOAT was in Philly

Long before he became a household name in the NBA , Chamberlain was already making waves in Philly as a high schooler. As far back as Mosenson can remember, young Wilt not only showcased his otherworldly skills on the court but also took the city by storm.

Chamberlain's 90-point explosion wasn't the only highlight of his high school career. He continued to break and set records, capturing the attention of local sports fans and college scouts alike. According to his coach, Wilt had set a narrative at the time that he could be the greatest player to ever play the game.

"The allure of Wilt Chamberlain permeated the whole school," Mosenson recalled. "Everybody was excited about the possibility that we're gonna have the greatest basketball player in history… Every time you open up the paper, you would read something about Wilt Chamberlain."

    Wilt's historic 100 points

Chamberlain unsurprisingly finished his high school career with a staggering tally of 2,252 points, averaging 37.4 points per game. As expected, he picked up where he left off in college when he joined the University of Kansas, where he also set an all-time record of 52 points in one game.

Due to his extraordinary talent, The Big Dipper's NBA career was already guaranteed. In the NBA, the towering big man, as many have anticipated, set another incredible record, an individual feat that no player has ever matched nor surpassed to this day. On March 2, 1962, Chamberlain scored 100 points as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers in a game against the New York Knicks, a record that best describes Wilt's legacy as a legendary scorer.
