In its 77 years of existence, the NBA has seen a plethora of talented superstars showcase their talent on the hardwood. Over the years, the Association has found a number of ways to honor all of those greats.
A recent example of this was when the league honored the 75 greatest players in its history on the league’s 75th anniversary in 2021. The list featured the likes of Michael Jordan , LeBron James , Magic Johnson, and many other legends who left lasting imprints during their respective careers.
Wade recalls NBA Top 75 photoshoot
It was rare to see so many greats gather at the same spot. Evidently, basketball fans from around the globe yearned for photographs of their favorite legends. Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade shared a memorable moment during the NBA Top 75 photoshoot.
“We have already taken this Top 75 photo, now, the photo moment was crazy because it was me, CP [Chris Paul], Melo [Carmelo Anthony], Bron [LeBron James] like that was crazy itself, but we had a moment where they broke out into your positions,” D-Wade said . “So you got the 1s, you got the 2s, you got the 3s, and so on and so forth. So the 1s are about six feet. They got Chris Paul, John Stockton, and Isiah Thomas.
“... So we as the 2s Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, myself, all of us 6’4”, 6’5” whatever. We looking at the 1s like look at them little m*****f***ers can’t f**k with us. We talking s**t. We look to our left, we got 6’7”, 6’8”, they looking at us the same way like look at them little m*****f***ers. … The greatest ever to play the game, all still sizing each other up.”
It’s hilarious to think that even the greatest basketball players of all time were sizing each other up on the monumental occasion. This just goes to show how competitive a basketball player needs to be in order to play in the Association, something that doesn't just wear off with retirement.

Wade’s most memorable moment of the NBA Top 75
As we mentioned earlier, the NBA Top 75 ceremony had plenty of unique moments for the fans to enjoy. But Jordan’s surprise entrance at the No. 1 spot on the list stole the show; even D-Wade labeled it as his most memorable moment from the event .
Since retiring from the NBA, His Airness has kept a somewhat low profile. The Bulls legend may stay available for business opportunities off the court, but he maintained a distance from the league, albeit being the owner of the Charlotte Hornets.
Either way, MJ’s surprise appearance made the day for many former players and fans around the globe. Hopefully, we will see something similar from the arguable GOAT in future events around the Association.
