BASTROP, La. ( KTVE/KARD ) — On Monday morning, Chief Leondro Reed at the Bastrop Police Department confirmed that a body was found near Vesta Street in a wooded area.

This is the second time in six months that this has happened.

According to authorities, at around 4:44 p.m. on June 23rd, the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about the human remains.

In December of 2023, Bastrop PD discovered human remains in the woods south of White Avenue.  It was not until April of this year that those remains were identified.

Cases like this one have repeated themselves over time.

In October 2023, a couple was found deceased in their home on West Carter Avenue.  In May of the same year, a man was found dead in the sleep compartment of a semi-trailer truck.

In 2019, an 11-year-old child was found deceased in a Bastrop ditch near a ball park.

This investigation is still ongoing, and foul play is suspected.

On June 21st, at 11:30 p.m., a Morehouse Parish juvenile was reported missing.  Bastrop mayor Betty Alford says that she has spoken with the victim’s family and offers her condolences.

The identity of the victim has not been identified, and the body is in Little Rock, AR, for an autopsy.

KTVE/KARD will keep you updated on this case as more information becomes available.
