3 suspects accused of severely beating victim during Bastrop home invasion; charged with Attempted Murder

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

BASTROP, La. ( KTVE/KARD ) — On December 17, 2023, the Bastrop Police Department responded to a disturbance on Huey Street. According to authorities, the victim was asleep in their home when three men allegedly broke into the residence, severely beating the victim.

As a result of the assault, the victim was placed in a coma and was hospitalized for a lengthy time. On July 9, 2024, Bastrop Police concluded its investigation and identified the suspects as 20-year-old Brandon Heard, 43-year-old Richard D. Brown, and 38-year-old Rayshawn E. Lewis.

The suspects were charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Home Invasion, and Conspiracy.
