BATH TWP. — Five people, including a toddler, were injured Wednesday evening when a side-by-side UTV struck a tree on private property in the 5100 block of Clark Road.

The 52-year-old man who was driving about 35 mph at the time of the 8 p.m. crash suffered leg injuries and police officer Royce Cook applied tourniquets, Bath Township police said in a release.

That man and four other victims, one age 2, received treatment at the scene by township firefighters and were transported to Sparrow Hospital for treatment or evaluation, Police Chief Gary Smith said in the release.

"We do not know the conditions of the patients, which is kind of a good thing. We are usually only made aware when it is not good," Smith said in a Facebook post.

The Bath Township police and fire departments were assisted by the East Lansing and Meridian Township fire departments, Clinton County Central Dispatch and Mercy Ambulance Service.
