Friday was a very productive day on the recruiting trail for the LSU football program as they landed two recruits, including a Top 100 player from Indianapolis.

Edge rusher Damien Shanklin announced his commitment to the Tigers on Friday afternoon. 247sports has Shanklin ranked as the 48th best player in the country out of Warren Central High School.

Shanklin had 66 tackles as a junior, including 17 for a loss and three sacks. For his high school career, he has 97 tackles, 22 for a loss, six sacks and an interception.

His high school coach at Warren Central, Mike Kirschner, told the IndyStar that Shanklin is easy to coach, shows up every day and you don’t have to worry about him.

He's ranked as the top player in Indiana. Shanklin is six-foot-four, 230 pounds and chose the Tigers over Alabama and Ohio State.

LSU's 2025 class now features two of the top edge rushers in the country, Shanklin and Jesse Harrold from Tampa.

LSU also received a commitment on Friday from defensive tackle Brandon Brown. Brown was a Texas commitment, but former Texas defensive line coach and current LSU D-line coach Bo Davis has convinced Brown to follow him to LSU.

Brown visited the LSU campus last month. He also visited Tennessee and Oklahoma this summer, but says LSU is his final decision.

On3.com and Rivals.com both have Brown ranked as a four-star recruit.

The verbal pledges from Shanklin and Brown pushed LSU past Georgia for fourth place in the on-3 dot-com national rankings.
