Former LSU Tigers wide receiver Malik Nabers received the biggest compliment that a player can receive from former Alabama head coach Nick Saban ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Nabers, the No. 6 overall selection by the New York Giants earlier this spring, might end up being the best player in the draft. It's obviously far too early to predict how each rookie's career will play out, but Nabers has the talent, and the mindset, to thrive in the NFL.

And after hearing Saban's comment about Nabers, I feel even more confident that the former LSU standout is going to be a star at the next level.

Nick Saban thinks former LSU WR Malik Nabers was a f---ing problem in the SEC

During this week's episode of HBO Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants , Giants head coach Brian Daboll told New York general manager Joe Schoen that he called Saban while heading to the facility to ask about his favorite players in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Daboll, who was the offensive coordinator at Alabama in 2017 under Saban, said Saban told him that Nabers was a "f--ing problem" when Alabama played LSU.

"On the ride in, I was talking with Nick Saban," said Daboll to Schoen on draft day. "And I said, 'hey, who over the last couple of years, give me the guys in this draft, your top three?' He's like, 'there's two skill guys that are f---ing problems, and they were problems when we played them, big time problems'. First one is Malik, [Saban] f---ing went off on him. And then (Georgia tight end) [Blake] Bowers was the other one. He's like, 'those f---ing guys are problems '."

Nabers went off against Alabama last season, catching 10 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown in LSU's loss to the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.

Earlier in the episode, Schoen called Nabers a "dog" during the LSU wide receiver's draft visit with the Giants.

And Giants wide receivers coach Mike Groh told Giants owner John Mara that he would take Nabers over any other wide receiver in the draft.

After hearing Saban's comment about Nabers, it's hard to disagree with the Groh's assessment of the wide receivers in the draft. That's not to say that Nabers will for sure be the best wide receiver that was selected in this year's draft, but he certainly seems to have the traits that take a wide receiver's game from great to elite.
