What has become quite the recruiting journey over the past three months, 2025 5-star athlete/safety Jonah Williams will commit on August 24. After making several official visits this summer, he will choose between USC , Texas , LSU , Oregon, and Texas A&M.

This week, Williams visited Texas for his unofficial Longhorns visit, but as it stands, Texas A&M and the Oregon Ducks look like the programs to watch heading into next month. However, LSU still remains a potential favorite.

However, according to Rivals insider Landyn Rosow, Williams has canceled his visit to LSU, which was slated to start on Friday and will be rescheduled for next weekend. Does this mean anything? Possibly, but for Mike Elko and his staff, Williams Texas A&M OV last month could be enough to cement his commitment.

During his junior season in 2023, Williams played wide receiver on offense and safety/linebacker on defense, showcasing his duel-threat ability while recording 474 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, 58 tackles, four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), four tackles for loss, and four punt return touchdowns on special teams.

According to Rivals, Williams is currently positioned as the 16th-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 1-ranked safety prospect, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Texas.
