BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A 23-year-old Battle Creek woman is in jail after allegedly stabbing her mother in the leg, police say.

Just after 9:30 p.m. on July 18, officers were called to the 100 block of Freedom Lane, near Carl Avenue, for a reported stabbing, according to a Thursday release from the Battle Creek Police Department.

Officers say they found a 47-year-old woman with an apparent stab wound to her upper thigh.

After investigating, police learned that the 47-year-old woman’s daughter had stabbed her mother in the midst of an argument, the release says.

Officers found the suspect, a 23-year-old Battle Creek woman, shortly after. She was jailed for felonious assault, according to the release. Her name was not released Thursday.

Police say the 47-year-old woman who was stabbed was taken to the hospital and was expected to be released.
