Miller-Davis construction firm CEO retiring after nearly 50-year career
Kalamazoo-based Miller-Davis Co. has announced the retirement of the construction management and general contracting firm’s longtime CEO Rex Bell. Bell joined Miller-Davis in 1977 at the company’s former Chicago office as a project engineer before relocating to Kalamazoo in 1984 for his first major project with the company: Working on the Kellogg Company’s $41 million headquarters in Battle Creek. Bell stepped into the role of company president in 1996 after working in several roles at Miller-Davis over the years, including project manager, chief estimator and vice president of estimating.

Football Featured in Kalamazoo Athletics' Team Tuesday Recognition
The Kalamazoo College football team was featured in the department's fourth edition of the summer's Team Tuesday recognition from the 2023-24 season. The Hornets finished with a 5-5 record in 2023, their best finish since the 7-3 2018 season. Kalamazoo picked up a 45-23 MIAA win over Adrian while winning all four non-conference games against Oberlin (42-10), Kenyon (48-16), Defiance (42-35), and Greenville (33-23). The Hornets averaged 29.7 points per game on offense and 390.1 yards per game, with 280.4 coming in the air and 109.7 being on the ground. The passing game was the second-best in the MIAA behind Trine, while the defense tied for the conference lead at 11 forced fumbles. Kalamazoo could lose up to 12 seniors heading into next season with a possibility of 83 returning.
