A 47-year-old Battle Creek woman was allegedly stabbed by her 23-year-old daughter following an argument on Freedom Lane July 18, according to the Battle Creek Police Department.

Police responded to the report of a stabbing at 144 Freedom Lane shortly after 9:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers located the 47-year-old woman, who appeared to have a stab wound to her upper right thigh. Further investigation revealed that the victim’s 23-year-old daughter, also of Battle Creek, had allegedly stabbed her mother following an argument, police said in a Thursday press release.

Police were able to locate the daughter a short time after responding to the scene. The 23-year-old woman is currently lodged at the Calhoun County Jail for felonious assault.

The mother was transported to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital for treatment, and was expected to be released.

The BCPD was assisted on the scene by the Battle Creek Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance, and the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety.
