Saturday Night’s Comeback Attempt Falls Short in Arkansas
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Missions continued their three-game series with the Arkansas Travelers Saturday night. After dropping game one on Friday, the Missions lost their second consecutive contest on Saturday. After trailing 8-2, San Antonio fought back with three runs in the eighth inning. However, Arkansas claimed the victory with a final score of 8-5. Juan Mercedes was the starting pitcher for the Travelers. The right-hander allowed two baserunners in the top of the first inning. With one man down, Brandon Valenzuela singled to center field. After retiring the next batter, Robbie Tenerowicz singled to left field. Marcos Castanon flew out to end the inning.
Wirchansky Leads Travs to Post-Break Win
North Little Rock, AR—Danny Wirchansky turned in another quality start and the Arkansas Travelers put up a four-run fifth inning on their way to a 5-2 victory over the San Antonio Missions on Friday night in the first game out of the All-Star break. Allowing only two runs over six innings, Wirchansky earned his fifth win of the season with Luis Curvelo (2 IP) and Troy Taylor (Save, IP) throwing scordless relief to close out the game. The Travs won despite being outhit in the contest, five to four.
Travs Rally For Walk-Off To Sweep San Antonio
North Little Rock, AR—The Arkansas Travelers rallied from three runs down for a 4-3 walk-off win over the San Antonio Missions on Sunday afternoon at Dickey-Stephens Park to sweep the three game series. Brock Rodden capped the rally with a sacrifice fly scoring pinch-runner Blake Rambusch in the bottom of the 9th. Hogan Windish had two RBI hits including the game-tying double in the final inning. Arkansas’ bullpen of Raul Alcantara (2 IP), Logan Gragg (IP) and Troy Taylor (Win, IP) pitched scoreless baseball to close out the game. Starter Michael Morales bounced back after surrendering home runs in the opening two frames to work five innings.
