New Jersey Businesses, Flights and First Responders Impacted by Global Technology Outage
NEW JERSEY — Some businesses and travelers in New Jersey are feeling the impact of a global technology outage. Gov. Phil Murphy said businesses and banks are impacted and flights are grounded.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike says Friday's outage happened when it deployed a faulty update to computers running Microsoft Windows. The company said that a fix was on the way. As of 9 a.m., there were major disruptions at Newark Liberty International Airport. On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the airport's handle posted "The PANYNJ is not affected by the ongoing global outage, but airlines are experiencing delays/cancellations. DO NOT head to EWR unless your flight is confirmed." Murphy said the state's Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) was activated as of 3 a.m.DOWNLOAD THE FREE TAPINTO APP FOR MORE LOCAL NEWS.
