    Hudson County Commissioners Celebrate Prep High School Graduate Monica Gerges for Academic Excellence

    HUDSON COUNTY, NJ - Monica Gerges, a Bayonne resident, and a graduate of County Prep High School, was honored by the Hudson County Board of Commissioners for her academic achievements.

    Gerges was recently awarded the 2024 NJAC Foundation PSE&G scholarship award for Hudson County.

    “Gerges has worked in an incredibly diverse environment,” according to a resolution. “She is an excellent, hard-working student who has dedicated herself to enriching the lives of her community, fellow students and faculty around her.”

    Throughout high school, she has consistently chosen science courses both required and elective, showcasing her strong interest in the field, the resolution said.

    These classes include water resources, soil sciences , environmental field and research, Urban ecology, and Earth and space science.

    Gerges actively participated in several school clubs, Youth Urban Farm Club, Community Garden Green Club (where she served as co-president), peer tutoring and STEM Club. She also played a key role in establishing a garden bed and compost tumbler on campus through her work with the Green Club.

    Gerges plans on continuing her academic career in environmental engineering this fall at Rutgers University.
