SUMMIT, NJ -- Two big innings offensively, and seven solid innings by its pitchers and fielders, propelled the Bayonne baseball team to a 7-1 victory over Oratory Prep Thursday night in the High School Developmental League.

Mike Boehm and Andrew Farber finished with two hits apiece for the Bees, who broke a scoreless duel with four runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Boehm led off the fourth inning with a single down the left field line. After a wild pitch and a hit batsman, Farber laid down a bunt that was fielded but then thrown away down the right field line, allowing a run to score and putting runners on second and third. Lefty swinging Luke Eckert then rapped a two-run single up the middle and took second on the throw home. Chris Cunningham advanced him to third with a groundout to the right side, then Braden O'Connor's sacrifice fly gave Bayonne a 4-0 lead.

The Bees added three runs in the fifth inning. D.J. Scifo led off with a walk. With two out, Brandon Drago beat out an infield single. Boehm laced a liner to center field that hopped over the head of the Oratory center fielder, allowing a run to score and putting runners on second and third. Steven Kass followed with a two-run single to left.

On the mound, right-hander Jordan Young started for Bayonne and retired six batters in order, striking out two. Manuel Trubo, Jacob Young, Jack Pozo, Drago and Kelly followed in relief, each of them pitching one inning.

Overall, Oratory finished with four hits, and the host Rams did not hit a flyball for the first 6 1/3 innings, as the Bayonne infielders excelled with the many chances they handled on the ground.
