MIDDLETOWN — There’s much to like about 1857 Jackson House in Dover, owner Hope Lopez said.

With the restaurant's upcoming move to Middletown, though, she said there will be much more to like.

That’s because of a roughly 4,000 square foot venue that will be opening around the second week of September, she said.

It’s a large expansion from the current location at 144 Kings Highway SW, Ms. Lopez said.

Ms. Lopez said the new spot at 17 Wood Street is perfect for the business plan. It’s at the site of the now-shuttered Metro Pub & Grill.

“Our realtor told us about this place and I’m like ‘This is a fantastic location for us.’

“Given the size of the building and restaurant in Dover there’s only so much we can do there.”

In Middletown, there’s a large event room that can allow for something like dinner and a movie night, said Ms. Lopez, who owns the business with Heidy Cantoran.

The owners plan to have live music and a menu Ms. Lopez described as “elevated comfort food.”

Ms. Lopez said all offerings are made from scratch and “everything is good.”

Chamaigne Stone will remain as the Executive Chef, Ms. Lopez said.

The new restaurant will be open:

    • Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

    • Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to midnight

    • Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Ms. Lopez said brunch will be served each Friday, Saturday and Sunday. She expects to hire 20 to 30 employees.

Ms. Lopez and Mr. Cantoran also own two El Azteca  restaurants in Dover and one each in Middletown and Rehoboth Beach, in addition to the Bad Hombre brand.
