A major pool renovation project at Wooster High School in the Gault Recreation Center is expected to be completed in early August. Inside the time capsule were, among other things, old newspapers, an old book from the Garrettsville 120th Centennial and a song written about Garrettsville called “Old Garrettsville” that was sung by two girls, according to the James A. Garfield Historical Society, when the time capsule was buried in 1924. Two women sang the song at the time capsule opening.
Fire destroys restaurant, hall on West Side; firefighter injured
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A fire at a restaurant and hall on the West Side rekindled after it was initially controlled, destroying the building and injuring a firefighter. According to the city fire department, the blaze first started in the restaurant, reportedly Gargano’s, located near the intersection of West 25th Street and Marvin Avenue in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. There were no injuries to people who were in the restaurant.

Recreational Marijuana Prohibited in Uhrichsville
The recreational use of marijuana is now prohibited within City of Uhrichsville limits. Council also voted on a few other matters. Among two separate ordinances up for vote, 12-24 prohibits the adult use of cannabis operations, include cultivators, processors, and dispensaries within city limits. The other, 13-24 emends the city’s codified ordinances to define and prohibit the cultivation, processing, and retail dispensing of cannabis for the purpose of adult recreational use in all zoning districts.
