The baby, GianRaul, came out purple, and it took doctors 15 minutes to locate his heartbeat. Hours later, Olivio and her husband — exhausted but relieved that their son had survived — said they saw their doctor and midwife being pulled aside by a man in a suit who they believed was the hospital’s lawyer.
Vape disposal boxes available in Putnam
CARMEL- The Prevention Council of Putnam has initiated a system allowing for the safe disposal of vape products countywide. Despite warnings of the dangers of vaping, the Centers for Disease Control reported recently, e-cigarette monthly unit sales increased by 46.6 percent—from 15.5 million units in January of 2020, to 22.7 million units in December of 2023; prefilled device sales decreased, while disposable device sales increased; and sales of sweet, youth-appealing flavors increased.
$23.7 million Thruway bridge replacement in Esopus underway
TOWN OF ESOPUS – The State has begun a major $23.7 million superstructure bridge replacement project on the Thruway (Interstate 87) in the Esopus in Ulster County. The approximately 360-foot-long, three-span structure bridge carries Thruway mainline traffic in both directions over the Wallkill River and State Route 213 between Exit 18 (New Paltz-Poughkeepsie) and Exit 19 (Kingston). Approximately 54,000 vehicles travel the bridge per day in both directions. The span opened to traffic in 1955 and is among the 75 percent of Thruway bridges that are more than 60 years old.
