‘Mission is failing’ on patient care, AG tells NC health officials weighing expansion request

North Carolina’s attorney general wants state health officials to deny Mission Hospital’s bid to add 26 more beds to the Asheville facility, according to a letter sent Monday and shared with BPR News. The AG’s office cited the need for increased competition in the region and the recent spate of complaints against Mission’s owner, HCA Healthcare.

The 2024 college football season is almost here, which means it is time to get ready to root for your North Carolina Tar Heels as they chase the elusive ACC title and CFP berth. UNC hasn’t claimed the ACC crown since 1980 and it is high time to end that skid. The Tar Heels open the 2024 slate on the road in a return matchup with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. UNC will face last year’s media darlings, the James Madison Dukes on Sept. 21 ahead of their annual rivalry matchup with the Duke Blue Devils. There is no matchup with the Clemson Tigers this season but draw the defending ACC champion Florida State Seminoles on Nov. 2 in Tallahassee. PARIS, France — UNC-Chapel Hill alumna Ashley Hoffman and Team USA's women's field hockey team competed against Spain in the Women's Pool B event on Monday morning. The match ultimately ended in a draw, at 1-1. Hoffman made her Olympics debut Saturday with Team USA's women's field hockey team. A new season of The Girls Golf Club of Whispering Pines is on the horizon, and will commence once school is back in session. The Club is LPGA and USGA affiliated, and open to girls aged 6 to 17.
