BEAUMONT — A sting targeting certain areas to curb violent crime across Beaumont led to traffic stops, arrests, suspected drugs and weapons.

The Beaumont Police Department, in collaboration with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a Violent Crime Suppression Operation from June 24 to June 28, 2024.

    Operation Results:
    – 70 high-risk traffic stops
    – 24 arrests (including recovering two firearms)
    – 20 warrants served totaling over $5,500
    – 2 search warrants executed

The arrests covered a range of offenses, including felon in possession of a firearm, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, narcotics violations, assault on a police officer, possession of fraudulent information, failure to identify, and several outstanding warrants.
“The focused effort of law enforcement in targeting violent crimes is crucial for maintaining public safety and upholding the rule of law. Operations like these not only remove dangerous individuals from our streets but also send a clear message that violent crime will not be tolerated in our community,” Chief James Singletary said.
