CENTER TWP. ― A recent round of federal funds is bringing another electrical vehicle charging station to Beaver County.

According to PennDOT, the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) recently provided over $7 million of conditional grants to expand electrical vehicle charging capabilities. One of the sites receiving these new charging options is the GetGo location near Exit 39 in Center Township, with $627,038 being provided for the project.

“With every investment in EV infrastructure, we make clean transportation options more accessible for Pennsylvanians,” said Mike Carroll, PennDOT secretary. "These awards will help move us to the next phase of EV rollout.”

The addition to the newly constructed GetGo will be Beaver County's sixth public charging station and the closest to an exit along Interstate 376. According to project officials, the grant requires that 50% of the workforce come from communities within 50 miles of the site.

This most recent wave of funding is a part of the $171.5 million that PennDOT will receive for electric vehicle infrastructure over the next five years. So far, Pennsylvania has committed to 91 similar projects across 43 counties.

In addition to the new charging station, the Department of Energy's charging station map shows that residents of Beaver County can charge their electric vehicles at the following locations:

Several stations are also available around the Pittsburgh International Airport and Moon Township, with electric charging stations being more common the closer motorists get to the city.
