The Soccer girls from Banks High proved that they're more than just athletes by actively engaging in community service and environmental sustainability projects. The initiative was led by Violet Allori, a junior at Banks High and a keen animal and soccer enthusiast. Shocked by the amount of discarded plastic that littered Cannon Beach, she decided to take action.

Allori is studying to be an environmental scientist, an aspiration that led her to motivate her team to help clean up the beach during the off-season. The beach cleanup was a success due to the joint effort of her teammates and the 'Sea Turtles Forever' organization, who provided them with tools to remove harmful microplastics from the sand. The team, in one day, successfully cleaned Treasure Cove in Manzanita, removing 120 pounds of plastic.

This project highlighted a serious environmental issue, specifically the impact of microplastics on marine life, and the subsequent risk to humans. Despite the enormity of the task, the Banks High team remains positive, believing their contributions can bring about larger changes. Their actions on and off the field underline their dedication not only towards the sport but also to their community and the world.
