Tigard to ban overnight camping at the library because of 'risk to children, families'
While Tigard once had one of the least restrictive ordinances of Washington County cities when it came to where homeless individuals could stay overnight, that will change on July 29. That’s when camping at the Tigard Public Library will be banned due to recent behaviors there — specifically visible drug use. Two other city properties will be effected by a new ordinance as well. “So some of those behaviors that...

Excited for the locks to reopen? It’s fun to think about, but still a ways off
Imagine kayaking with friends on the Willamette River between Wilsonville and Portland. Right now, you can only daydream about the adventure because it has not actually been possible since the Willamette Falls Locks closed in 2011. But the Willamette Falls Locks Authority hopes this type of activity could soon be a reality once again. Since it was formed by the Oregon Legislature in 2021, the authority has worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the longtime owner and operator of the locks, to repair...

Greenburg Road on-ramp to northbound Highway 217 to close for a week
Starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 29, the Greenburg Road on-ramp to northbound OR 217 will close for a week until 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 5. During this closure, Oregon Department of Transportation crews will reconfigure the ramp to ensure it connects to the new, future auxiliary lane. The auxiliary lane is expected to reduce congestion when it opens in 2025 by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. The suggested detour route is to take the Greenburg Road on-ramp to head southbound on OR 217 and use the OR 99W interchange to return to northbound OR 217.
