    Beaverton cooling centers to remain open through Tuesday

    As the heatwave pushes on, so, too, will Beaverton’s cooling centers.

    At least through Tuesday, July 9, the city has designated two spots for folks looking to cool off:

    Beaverton City Library Main, located at 12375 S.W. Fifth St.: open Monday and Tuesday with extended hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.Murray Scholls Branch, located at 11200 S.W. Murray Scholls Place, Suite 102: closed Monday, open Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    These cooling locations are free to access. Internet, outlets, water and restrooms will be available.

    The Beaverton temporary shelter at 12350 S.W. Fifth St. also has been activated, and will not turn anyone away. It is open 24 hours, and meals are provided. The shelter can be accessed via TriMet route numbers 52, 76, and 78.

    Meanwhile, the splash pad the Beaverton City Park Fountain remains open and operational from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, through October.
