BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Beckley is celebrating Juneteenth on Saturday June 19, 2024, and the event’s organizer promised that it will be fun and educational for all.

West Virginia residents can ride on the Hatfield-McCoy Trails for free on West Virginia Day

The celebration begins at Hunter’s Cemetery on Antonio Avenue at 10 A.M. There will be a flag raising, community prayers, and singing.

Events will continue at New River Park Shelter Number 2 at noon.

There will be discounted swimming at the Sharon Dempsey Memorial Pool, live music, double-dutch, and a grill out.

Tina Pannell, the event’s organizer and President of the Beckley Juneteenth Committee said she can not wait for the event.

“Yes, it’s just straight jubilance. It’s like a jubilee. Now we’re celebrating where not only black Americans, but all Americans can come out and celebrate Juneteenth like it’s Fourth of July,” said Pannell.

Pannell said the event is still in need of vendors and volunteers.

Those who wish to participate can reach out to Tina Pannell at 480-313-0610.
